Sunroom 0.1.0
A free menu-bar utility for placing a movable tint over a bright screen share. Requires macOS 13 or later; the same app includes Apple Silicon and Intel binaries.
First launch
This preview is ad-hoc signed, not Developer ID signed or notarized. macOS may block the first launch. If you trust the download, try opening it once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway and confirm. Managed Macs may prevent this. Apple’s instructions.
Drag Sunroom from the DMG into Applications. Look for the sun icon in your menu bar; there is no Dock icon. Unlock to move or resize the box, then lock to click through. Show/hide is separate.
Included
- Custom tint colors, 5–80% opacity, and Amber, Blue, and Gray presets.
- Independent visibility and edit/click-through modes.
- Saved color, opacity, visibility, geometry, and stacking preference.
- All-Spaces behavior and recovery when a display is disconnected.
- Local preferences, with no accounts, analytics, or screen capture in the native app.
Verification and limits
17 native release checks passed on macOS 26.4.1 on Apple Silicon. Both architecture slices declare macOS 13.0 minimum. The disk image and ad-hoc signature verify. Intel hardware and older macOS runtimes haven’t been tested directly.
The box is positioned by hand. It does not track windows or convert content to dark mode. Some full-screen and secure system surfaces may cover it. This is a macOS-only release.
